Enjoy most everything that nature has to offer.

This wonderful pattern was received from a friend down east. First quilt I ever did in solids...and again waited for many years to be quilted. It is staying with me.<br />
<br />
More to come soon.<br />
A city north east of is has evacuated due to a huge Forest Fire. the largest evacuation in Canadian history, at least 81,000 people. I will be busy making some comfort quilts for the evacuees. I hope you are having a wonderful spring. I love being outdoors digging in the dirt. </div>

Continuing on with the UFO's. Of course the PQM (please quilt me ) pile is growing, I will get to that pile soon.<br />
It is very cold up north -29 with the windchill today and we have very little snow. Maybe 2 to3" compared to the 2 ft we would normally have. Perfect weather to be tucked in the studio doing what I love.<br />
<br />
While waiting for this years MQ, from Bonnie Hunter I started Pfeffernusse. Decided to do it scrappy and it is ready for quilting. <br />

I was not thrilled with my scrappy job, but got a thumbs up from Bonnie, so am pleased and will learn to love it. I know someone will like it a lot. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am now working on an Edyta Star quilt that I started 3 yrs ago...for some reason quit at the borders! </div>

I loved this years Allietare! Mystery Quilt by Bonnie Hunter. I am sure it is my favorite so far, and this is #6 for me. I already have a new colorway picked for a second one. I finished the top, added a four patch border, as I needed a bit more overhang for my bed. And now I see that I messed up a few of the four patch blocks in the quilt...oh well we are not all perfect, and I for sure know I am not :) All the fabric came from my stash, which makes me very happy.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifzhx2mPRudck4BtWWthLCpC_YOix9miAWp1px8wuNS2gybSYdOWXv4tcDCMUzaqyKWre5521ryubD-Ni2gSd2LqXgUKyRwKYK0jQuiWHyZyg5ci0NSy4Po_oiTK3iZG2EuIgT0NXJtjg/s1600/allietare_topdone.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEifzhx2mPRudck4BtWWthLCpC_YOix9miAWp1px8wuNS2gybSYdOWXv4tcDCMUzaqyKWre5521ryubD-Ni2gSd2LqXgUKyRwKYK0jQuiWHyZyg5ci0NSy4Po_oiTK3iZG2EuIgT0NXJtjg/s320/allietare_topdone.jpg" width="306" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I also really enjoyed Link Up Monday, seeing everyone's' progress and wonderful color combinations. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope to quilt this on the longarm at the local quilt shop...I am thinking music notes...for some reason while working on this I kept thinking of music.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am busy working on projects that are half done.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This one is a Judy Neymeir pattern called Ball Room Dance. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Again, I used all the batiks from my stash , and can't believe how much I have left! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Stash just seems to multiply overnight. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my first full size quilt using Quiltworx paper piece method and I thoroughly enjoyed. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I do have some quilting ahead of me. That is fine we have lot's of winter left. And I enjoy my winter sewing. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Next on the UFO list is to do the borders on an Edyta Star quilt that I started a couple of years ago. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hope you all have a wonderful January. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

What a surprise to get the last clue and reveal so soon. I was sure we had a few more clues for the MQ. If you missed out on this MQ, click the button "Allietare!" on the left for all of the clues.<br />
<br />
I was worried that my burgundies were not bright enough ( but they reminded me of wine/grapes) also that my grey was too dark...all my worry was for naught, I am thrilled with my colors and am in love with this design. Bonnie is a wonderful designer, this has to be my favorite so far.<br />
Here it was a few days ago: I sewed like mad to make the corners and a few blocks.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghV6TqheZJJP5QTjx6sxm8gYnIRL1AZePVcDDjT7WNtQLDwTrv3F1QDjsffVeBHKLP-8GNv-KJnsDcdcz9PxAavrKeqNisMT65efkwwuen0Q3myewdCsJLInIFeNPXcby_z4g3IJtUsEg/s1600/2016+01+01_0763.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghV6TqheZJJP5QTjx6sxm8gYnIRL1AZePVcDDjT7WNtQLDwTrv3F1QDjsffVeBHKLP-8GNv-KJnsDcdcz9PxAavrKeqNisMT65efkwwuen0Q3myewdCsJLInIFeNPXcby_z4g3IJtUsEg/s320/2016+01+01_0763.JPG" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Than had to take a break to get my house back to normal after the holidays.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I settled in this morning and finished making the blocks, you might say I had a sew a thon!The middle is finished , no borders yet. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am in love. Very glad that I stuck with Bonnie's color theme, it really does say Italy and I see music notes quilted on it in the very near future. </div>

I have been working on some UFO's....and I have quite a few. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I was working on this charity quilt when the last clue came out, I did finish quilting but it is still on the frame. Will take it off tomorrow and add binding. </div>

Clue #5 and UFO's<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
The hustle and bustle of the holidays is just about over for another year. We had a wonderful Christmas with family.<br />
<br />
I did find some time to sew clue #5 of Bonnie Hunter's MQ...Allietare!, you will find a link to all the clues if you click the Allieatore! button to the right. Bonnie is so giving, every year a new mystery and it is always a highlight that I look forward to.<br />
<br />
I love these little units,they remind me of birds flying. I have made all 98, but they do need trimmed to size.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihodz-HJvg71V8B1VGH7cEdRmOGycrsI6ntTZgANvBB3TJ_-Ia7sPEzjoERKVr0EjAHl4kzR8AYKzGI17c-TMI-SAembOnkRb0dzASDVMNMLiX8f8XEeJMcQm5ynslfCU8nbnCV2AT3f4/s1600/clue5_1_edited-1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihodz-HJvg71V8B1VGH7cEdRmOGycrsI6ntTZgANvBB3TJ_-Ia7sPEzjoERKVr0EjAHl4kzR8AYKzGI17c-TMI-SAembOnkRb0dzASDVMNMLiX8f8XEeJMcQm5ynslfCU8nbnCV2AT3f4/s320/clue5_1_edited-1.jpg" width="247" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These were quite simple to make. I am not using a constant grey, and my neutrals are a bit blah compared to others. I promise in 2016 I will buy more fun neutrals. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had really hoped for more gold with this clue, oh well perhaps the next clue our gold will get out to play. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love looking at all the blogs and seeing how others are progressing with the mystery quilt. I am linking up to Bonnie's Monday Mystery Quilt Link Up. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Still working on UFO's...and I have a lot. I can cross one more off my list. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I started embroidering these barn blocks about 3 years ago, had started the filler blocks but never finished. I am proud to say it is now completely finished. It was a labor of love. All the barn quilts on the barns are done with the satin stitch. I had to change the flag in one block, after all I am Canadian:) Here are some pictures of it. There are 12 block in all. </div>

Clue #3 and slow stitching<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
I am loving <b>Allietore!</b>, Bonnie Hunter's new Mystery quilt. You can find the link to the clues that have been released on the right side bar, near the top. Just click on it and it will take you to Bonnie Hunters Allietore! page.<br />
<br />
Loved making these happy little four patches, for some reason I don't feel so hurried this year, and am managing to get my clues done by Saturday. I did cut the extra neutrals, but forgot a picture.<br />
Here are my happy four patches, all 120 of them with a few extras.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiOhbKhJxWEebIWmnV4f-0jcRU6TFdGBz7sSrvXRsNU_5pjxS7twuizPQERLWiDpAEwDfv6FW4AU4GrqyrIZaXNWzqB1NBiLwUrjYY-t9BjZlWIyggcnn5n19td44d5g-wbOyBnUh0vpk4/s1600/closeup2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZh5Dwl0Rw7dFXGhb59VG2ezFVaw5JXARZwSSfuiFlH4mLsYJ4gXDO7C94XOQJF6TgdfRTmlu16eeEYPxgSe2E8MaqIovi83WJ9sUZgc_kbybevgTlkpsjo_fubkrXRqppj6HqtBlnu9I/s1600/allietare_clue3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="238" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZh5Dwl0Rw7dFXGhb59VG2ezFVaw5JXARZwSSfuiFlH4mLsYJ4gXDO7C94XOQJF6TgdfRTmlu16eeEYPxgSe2E8MaqIovi83WJ9sUZgc_kbybevgTlkpsjo_fubkrXRqppj6HqtBlnu9I/s320/allietare_clue3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here is clue 1 to 3 all together, I am happy that the darker grey will work against the black. I am using several different grays. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgveJeJrl8q4Ofck4tzRh_ILmqkxo1mxkYtOdfVj63SILTBu9Zm7Gb7kXI-K_s705HdAnYZzd0kGmdjPMfpN97pBrd7CLwqf-HqnS4AHkNpNOWTfDr4wZlANTSfE7pACm0_fATk90-buzM/s1600/clue1_2_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="272" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgveJeJrl8q4Ofck4tzRh_ILmqkxo1mxkYtOdfVj63SILTBu9Zm7Gb7kXI-K_s705HdAnYZzd0kGmdjPMfpN97pBrd7CLwqf-HqnS4AHkNpNOWTfDr4wZlANTSfE7pACm0_fATk90-buzM/s320/clue1_2_3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Looking forward to Clue #4 and to <b>LINK UP MONDAY</b>. I love seeing everyone's progress. Here is the link for Link Up Monday. Visit all the wonderful bloggers that are doing Bonnie's MQ.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And now for some Slow Stitching, I love stitching, have always wanted to make a crazy quilt and </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
always have churn dash block on my mind. So I have combined the two. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here is the first one done. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjINumDnWYAz-Bo58VC8EbUE9aJZvuW9wJ00J1_XaEsZ08nas9T0Cuq8Lak_zjLt9GCKS_AW4ghpBfMJfmV7xQjXB8HTb0-crOQluAW61u5lFX2lkYE7I9wCLO52jj3XPVRhWVpNdUDGlU/s1600/firstblock.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="309" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjINumDnWYAz-Bo58VC8EbUE9aJZvuW9wJ00J1_XaEsZ08nas9T0Cuq8Lak_zjLt9GCKS_AW4ghpBfMJfmV7xQjXB8HTb0-crOQluAW61u5lFX2lkYE7I9wCLO52jj3XPVRhWVpNdUDGlU/s320/firstblock.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have many little crazy blocks stitched, they are 6 1/2". </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are four of them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My grandmother taught me to embroidery when I was quite young, and I have done a bit in my adult life. In the past year or two I have done quite a lot of work with wool and embroidery stitches.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Lots of fun looking in the scraps to put together these little blocks.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here are few close up pictures of my embroidery work...don't look to close I am not a professional for sure. </div>

Clue #2 and Ballroom Dance. <div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">
I have finished clue #2 for Allietare! Bonnie Hunter's new Mystery Quilt. Click the button on the right hand side to read more about it.<br />
My grey is a bit dark and looks blue in the picture, but it really is grey:) I am using various shades of grey from the stash.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX6s7sB1jX7PBuJdTY9D03Ei1FVobLqwqhNki1FSxCvE8w_sJvNr62RV1AkPU8xJ5JnLTO4Ua4L0U-BRX72NGF6deRvrW8fS2tvChdzHUYT130kbTFHIsYa6lEe1zfAQxWo_NJvSizI4c/s1600/clue2_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjX6s7sB1jX7PBuJdTY9D03Ei1FVobLqwqhNki1FSxCvE8w_sJvNr62RV1AkPU8xJ5JnLTO4Ua4L0U-BRX72NGF6deRvrW8fS2tvChdzHUYT130kbTFHIsYa6lEe1zfAQxWo_NJvSizI4c/s320/clue2_1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
And the little 2" squares are done too.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

All we need now is to use some gold.<br />
<br />
I look forward to Link Up Monday and visiting all my new friends blogs. Love blogging this time of year...summer not so much.<br />
I am linking with Bonnie Hunter's link up Monday for the Allietare! Mystery Quilt. Have a look at what others are doing .<br />
<br />

<br />
<br />
I am also working on a Judy Niemeyer quilt, queen size called Ballroom Dance. All from the bali stash. Just have to piece the borders now. My design wall is not larger enough :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghH7y7xYHd4DWehUh1e-MAF0WdN01bJlgx5HYIRh8jXJEaXAqYOJaMy7ieKsTcudlrLQzO-eoekLNGl-RavZhN_oRiA9RkqXoC-BwTXuYkpcEf_oIfSGD42IP9xY8wRE6Q3Ct2O6RFlFo/s1600/ballroomdance_center.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="270" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEghH7y7xYHd4DWehUh1e-MAF0WdN01bJlgx5HYIRh8jXJEaXAqYOJaMy7ieKsTcudlrLQzO-eoekLNGl-RavZhN_oRiA9RkqXoC-BwTXuYkpcEf_oIfSGD42IP9xY8wRE6Q3Ct2O6RFlFo/s320/ballroomdance_center.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is my first full size pattern of hers, and I enjoyed the process. Thanks to a wonderful teacher at one our local quilt shops. Around The Block in Beaverlodge, Alberta..about 60 miles from here. But, when you live in the north you get used to travelling for things you want . </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I just realized looking at the picture that the bottom row has two blocks turned wrong...a date with Mr Ripper is in order. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy Saturday, hope your weekend is full of fun. </div>

I am thrilled to be working on another Bonnie Hunter MQ. I blog more and enjoy others blogger pages. I have been quite bad at posting on my blog the last while. Medical issues, spent most of the summer waiting for the phone to ring with an appt with the cardiologist in Edmonton. All is well for now and I can settle in to what I love.<br />
I have done four of Bonnie's mysteries and I am hooked. Here is a link to this years Mystery<br />
<div align="center">
<a href="http://quiltville.blogspot.com/" rel="nofollow" title="Winter Mystery 2015 - Allietare!"><img alt="Winter Mystery 2015 - Allietare!" src="http://quiltville.com/graphics/allietarelogo1sm.jpg" style="border: none;" /></a></div>
<br />
I will be joining Bonnie's Link Up Monday, and look forward to visiting all the other Allietore! bloggers.<br />
<br />
Clue #1<br />
Here are 300, 2 " HST.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirA9TaKGRSO4-ZNJW_qLx1J1a0sRqgjwDsmmGosT4Ovurs0X2fIT1It6csy3nwQ_qANO3u3xj5mKCl_Vo9S71LPy1hbY8JKsRMFwewBVudKPWTaRrwx2hPcUstzp3jPozMs7sEEZ8e0vs/s1600/A_clue1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="248" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEirA9TaKGRSO4-ZNJW_qLx1J1a0sRqgjwDsmmGosT4Ovurs0X2fIT1It6csy3nwQ_qANO3u3xj5mKCl_Vo9S71LPy1hbY8JKsRMFwewBVudKPWTaRrwx2hPcUstzp3jPozMs7sEEZ8e0vs/s320/A_clue1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I am using Bonnie's colors, as I love them. All pulled from the stash. I had them in the stash as I was actually gathering burgundy, black and gold for another quilt...story below. Reds lean more towards burgundy, black has small dots. The grey in the HST is a Moda solid.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwhaS50NbjrqchPMYGfs273boqKxrVcCJ_y86XEbrraAvZmrm75iUe9eM4y2rnTv006zoh6uv1sH4lofVDkLnLx5l6vwAQfH5yTtBMLZPU8TUhH0kA8QmxbJLMg6Q-yyRnFb9VD19IagY/s1600/fabric.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgwhaS50NbjrqchPMYGfs273boqKxrVcCJ_y86XEbrraAvZmrm75iUe9eM4y2rnTv006zoh6uv1sH4lofVDkLnLx5l6vwAQfH5yTtBMLZPU8TUhH0kA8QmxbJLMg6Q-yyRnFb9VD19IagY/s320/fabric.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I used the Eight at a time method for HST, it goes so quickly and perfect little 2" hst. Love it. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPihPN0BHKBEHiXibtAv5qHX9NE65WS6QMg4WqbE3sinArPfZae2VrCZwLB0GmSSmV6eUyW9Y34R7yrbGB6TnnQwCOhdkEG6ldb6Q1jQt2-2HWSuKCmDnCBePveG72Fq8RvL4xz48tKkE/s1600/eightatatime.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPihPN0BHKBEHiXibtAv5qHX9NE65WS6QMg4WqbE3sinArPfZae2VrCZwLB0GmSSmV6eUyW9Y34R7yrbGB6TnnQwCOhdkEG6ldb6Q1jQt2-2HWSuKCmDnCBePveG72Fq8RvL4xz48tKkE/s320/eightatatime.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And here is the foreman keeping an eye on things. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I took a class and made this quilt many years ago, neither the instructor or others were pleased with my color choices, and kept saying things hinting that it wouldn't work. But I am stubborn and stuck to my guns. Here it is. I have always loved these colors, over the past year purchased fabrics here and there that were on sale...and than along came Allietore!!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Happy quilting . </div>

I can not believe that I have not posted since April!!!!!!! Seems once summer is on the way I forget all about my poor little blog. I have had some achievements in the quilting field over the summer. I took a Judy Neymeir class at a certified shop not far from us, and finally understand the technique. First I made the ONE, one leaf wall hanging, then two runners that I made, one started in class. Love them both.<br />

Spring is trying to arrive, we've had gorgeous warm days, than some wet snow...so I am still sewing! I finished two tops. Now have a lot to quilt. I have six queen size that I made this winter and my little mid arm just doesn't handle them very well. So today I'm travelling 50 miles to a local quilt store to learn to use their longarm. Hopefully all works well and I'll get the big ones quilted. The little ones I can do on mine, no problem. Here are the last two tops I finished.<br />
First up is Judy Neymeirs pattern Summer Solstice. Sure wish I would have added some yellow to my palette.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The next finish is a log cabin from the Spring 2015 Primitive Quilting magazine. I added some extra logs to make it queen size. The applique is wool and hand stitched. This one is all from my stash, as I continue to use up stash this year. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am also working on my first Dresden Plate. I won a box of 40 Rowan fat quarters so dipped in there to make the plates. Just winging it and don't have a pattern to follow :) Here are the Dresden plates up on the design wall</div>

I am just working on the corner units ....I think I like it so far.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So you see a delayed spring is ok as I am getting a lot of sewing done. Now I must organize and get myself up the hiway for my quilting lesson. I am going to quilt a log cabin one today. Hope you are having a wonderful spring too :)</div>

It looks like spring might be on the way. We did have a skiff of snow last night but a lovely day today. I have been busy quilting Cancer charity quilts. With these four I will have finished 10 this year. The blocks are from my friends on FB the Just Us Quilters group.<br />

I was without a computer for over a week, wow did I ever have a lot of free time. I can't believe how much time I spend scrolling around. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have never made a Dresden plate quilt, so thought it was time I gave it a try. I have a box of Rowan Fat quarters, so have used them for the plates . 12 blocks made, now to decide on a setting for them. </div>

We had a doozey of a winter storm yesterday, cold wind and snow -28. So far today it is overcast and cold but they keep telling us we are under a winter storm warning. Bring it on, comfy and cozy in my studio. A good time to settle in and get some projects done.<br />
I finished the box kite block quilt. This is one of Bonnie Hunter's blocks it was in the May/June 14 Quiltmaker magazine. I am quite pleased with it. So this is my third quilt made from scrappy stash this year. I'm on a roll.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSzjtYRM2SF8s5CZ90ZVpBMt-wzgBSzZeJRydOAUcBQPLdqEFIiT2-iIcrNx5_pAqOpHvuL-niFGcDfj49yfYzIPNq7JIyyE9eGpKVK4HRzkVRC86Cw_KacTME7fchYx_VuJCnT7DlEXw/s1600/boxkite_top.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSzjtYRM2SF8s5CZ90ZVpBMt-wzgBSzZeJRydOAUcBQPLdqEFIiT2-iIcrNx5_pAqOpHvuL-niFGcDfj49yfYzIPNq7JIyyE9eGpKVK4HRzkVRC86Cw_KacTME7fchYx_VuJCnT7DlEXw/s1600/boxkite_top.jpg" height="320" width="240" /></a></div>
I worked hart to get the darks and medium/lights to run the opposite way. I think I succeeded. I still have a lot of 2 1/2" strips left, as I hardly made a dent in the box full.<br />
Here is a finish too , I call it "Celestial Reflections", I did purchase some fabric for this one. The inspiration came from Van Gough's painting" Starry Night Over the Rhone"<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

The pattern will be available soon. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
OH MY, I forgot one other important finish. I designed a quilt called<br />Geese in the Garden, it is on my Patterns For Sale Page. Well, as I love wool, I also did it in Wool. Here is the wool version, pattern available soon. If you are interested let me know, and I will get it written up sooner :)</div>

I have a new design to reveal. I had such fun designing and finding the gorgeous fabrics for this quilt. Here it is. It was perfect sunny day to photograph it. The pattern will be available very soon.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I tested this pattern with a facebook group, hosted it as a mystery quilt. They were all very pleased with the outcome.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I really need to get back to making some bags for the Gallery store, just been so tied up in quilts since January 1st. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Hope you had a wonderful January. I did manage to finish two quilt tops. Box kite block quilt has one border, hopefully get the rest on soon. </div>

After the flurry of Grand Illusion and Turkey Tracks, I dug into my box of 2 1/2" strips and decided to try Bonnie Hunter's Box Kit block. Such fun. I have done a layout in EQ, and am going to put borders on today. Picture soon. Here are four blocks together. I have made 600 half square triangles for the blocks. And will be making more for the border! Love all these fun bright colors when out the window the landscape is quite white. Oh, and by the way I hardly made a dent in the box of 2 1/3" strips!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I needed some hand stitching to do. So....took my Flight of Fancy pattern and am doing it in wool. It is looking good with the stitching. Here are the pieces laid out on linen. </div>

Talkin Turkey is ready for quilting. It was such a fun quilt to put together, didn't make much of a dent in my stash. I will be working on that for 2015! I would really like to not buy fabric and use up what I have !!! Wish me luck.<br />

I have never made a Dresden plate quilt. I often think of it, I have the ruler...so I think I will make it . I have been collecting some Kaffe Fassett fabrics and think they would make wonderful dresden's with a bright white background.</div>

I did take a weekend to quilt these Cancer Charity Quilts. I belong to a Facebook group called Just Us Quilters, if we want donations for blocks for charity, we put our name on the list. Well my name came up and my mailbox was busy. Last week I delivered six to the unit, have ten more to finish. The blocks are 12" square, the quilts are 4x5 blocks, so a nice size. Here are the six being delivered. g</div>

Revision to my early morning post. I DID IT! Grand Illusion top is finished and I love it. Might add one more plain border..we'll see. The border sure does finish it nicely. I wanted to take it outside, in the snow, and take a picture...but it is -44 C or F( it is all the same at this temp) with the windchill this morning. And I am staying in :)<br />

My what a trip it has been with Bonnie, I love this mystery quilt! This is my fourth with Bonnie and none of her mysteries have disappointed me :) I still have to put the borders on, will hopefully get that done today. Too much company lately, don't they know I have sewing to do :) My colors are basically the same as Bonnie's, I substitued purple for the black and white, and my colors are more muted. I used what I had in my stash. Here is my Grand Illusion!<br />

I managed to get this far with Talkin Turkey. It also just needs the borders. The flying geese units are made, now to do the string block border. I am loving the scrappy look. Feeling good, two large quilt tops and we are only at Jan 5th. My year is off to a good start. </div>

Happy New Year to all my blogger friends from Canada. I hope you have a healthy, happy year.<br />
The New Year certainly started out with a bug suprise, I thought for sure we would have another clue or two before the finale. Bonnie gave us a wonderful gift, she is the best. I busily sewed seven blocks together, without the sashing...I am having a bit of a dilemma. I've laid out the blocks with the sashing, and I like them better without? What is a girl to do??? I have a couple of busy days ahead me, so lot's of time to ponder the issue. Here are the seven blocks.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

We had such a lovely Christmas, family together...what else could one ask for. Yesterday and today have been quiet days for me and I relish these days. I finished Clue #5, such a nice easy clue. It won't be long now and we will be putting things together. I think those four little four patches with pink/purple might me used for corners on the borders?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have all the units made for Talkin' Turkey, and have two rows put together. I am really liking the scrappy look, Bonnie did hers in reds. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXx29HkS5Y5NJghbDMaNzC2fbJujsh2TNh6TTmOxpEHzV_84OVtm6tz0N67e65FFxkSu9WresjkvF5bzRSkD-ZZu5jqp96TKccUavZJNqyQDxCC0I90_VajHs_qUq0R52RuMtLCRfW4oc/s1600/tworows.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgXx29HkS5Y5NJghbDMaNzC2fbJujsh2TNh6TTmOxpEHzV_84OVtm6tz0N67e65FFxkSu9WresjkvF5bzRSkD-ZZu5jqp96TKccUavZJNqyQDxCC0I90_VajHs_qUq0R52RuMtLCRfW4oc/s1600/tworows.jpg" height="153" width="320" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
And I finished my socks, they are very comfy. My sewing room is in the basement, it is a daylight basement so lot'f of light. However, the floor can be cold, nothing like a pair of handknit socks to cure that :)</div>

Finished clue #4 this morning. I am questioning my yellows. they are more gold. Hoping when it all goes together they will all play nicely with each other. As I was doing these units I was reflecting on my first mystery with Bonnie. It was Orca Bay and with the first clue I nearly bailed out! I didn't have much experience under my belt, my 1/4 seam was very off most times, really didn't know how to cut fabric correctly..units too small etc. I carried on learning as I went, and now realize how much I have learned. Heck, some of my units are large enough I can trim them, and those pesky points...well most of them match up. What a difference practice and taking advice makes. Here is Orca Bay.<br />

Talkin' Turkey is coming along. I don't have all the units made, but just had to do enough to try out a couple of blocks. Bonnie's is all red, I decided to do mine scrappy. This quilt is from her book String Fling. I think it will be quite lovely done scrappy. Love to bust some stash using her patterns. </div>

And in the evenings, a bit of knitting. I find knitting so relaxing at the end of a long busy day. this is a sock, should be nice with 4x4 ribbing all the way to the heel .<br />

I am loving this mystery. Finished all my Step #2 diamond units, love the colors together. I don't usually do pink and purple. I used Bonnie's #3 method, it worked for all those chevrons in Celtic Solstice , and worked well for this step. 100 little beauties. Now we just need to use our green, oh my what will she have in store for us next week.<br />

How do you draw your lines on dark fabric? I use a simple white charcoal pencil from the art store. It shows up well and is easy to wipe off.<br />

Not only am I working on this MQ, I have three of Bonnie's books. Both Shirt Tail books and String Fling. Told myself I must make at least one from each book, and I have a lot to choose from. I decided to use up some stash and make Turkey Tracks scrappy, rather than the red that Bonnie did. Here is what I have done so far. All of my flying geese, the bricks are cut and am starting on the string blocks. Turkey Tracks is in Bonnie's Spring Fling book</div>

So happy to be working on another Bonnie mystery quilt. It is a great way to spend a cold winter day. It is -35 here today and that is not with the windchill, sunny and bright though.<br />
I have finished clue #1, very colorful.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlrTGhFua89ySV8CccPpQdfxcyzlLpw0hMyQ1ZnxgPZexIwHhlqmSl3fC2d3372JqXdB_0i8b7cgALY_zh3Nf6vJhqk8LjSLcrjtNl9M0ajTiczQX2xYDMnE0sXiqL7Q2Fm6OoOsGB_hY/s1600/unit1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjlrTGhFua89ySV8CccPpQdfxcyzlLpw0hMyQ1ZnxgPZexIwHhlqmSl3fC2d3372JqXdB_0i8b7cgALY_zh3Nf6vJhqk8LjSLcrjtNl9M0ajTiczQX2xYDMnE0sXiqL7Q2Fm6OoOsGB_hY/s1600/unit1.jpg" height="200" width="190" /></a></div>
I am using purples for the black and white. And a more gold tone for the yellow. I have two colors of a muted coral for the pink. Here are all 100 of the broken dishes unit done. Four of them put together make a lovely star, but is that how they will be placed??? It is a mystery. This is going to be a very bright quilt.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am using my new (to me ) 1951 Singer Slant O Matic 503 ( doesn't that sound so cool) to put this mq together. My son went right through it, greased, oiled and tightened here and there, and it just hums along. I love it. The fins remind me so much of the cars in that error, lot's of fins...and the jukeboxes. And lot's of jivin'. I love this machine, just about as much as my Featherweight. </div>

It is 8:06am, on a blustery cold day. -32C with the windchill. Already I have 160 half square triangles ready for trimming...it is bliss to hear the machine humming away making another Bonnie mystery. I am using more of a taupe pallette for this mystery, all the others were done bright.<br />

I have really had to discipline myself these past few weeks. I have many UFO's, don't we all? However I have had this urge to start a new project, each day I drool over the three books I have of Bonnie's and want to start one..I had to walk away and continue with my promise to have 5 queen size quilts ready or close to it before the mystery. Here is what I finished yesterday (above), it is the top for the last one of the five. Gorgeous flannels and I know the recipient will love it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
All others are bound and ready to go. This baby just needs quilted, backing is ready , just need to pin it on the quilter..but first I am going to have fun with step #1. I hope you are having a great quilty day. </div>
