Love Entwined 1790 Marriage Coverlet

I am presently working on this gorgeous quilt, Esther Aliu is offering. Click on the button on the side to go to her blog and read all about the history etc., This will be an 18 month BOM, so far I have two months done on the center panel. Just about ready to start month 3. Here is my progress so far.

Finished..."A Summers Eve'

I have been so neglectful of my bog. When spring arrives all I want to do is be outdoors mucking in the dirt. The garden is growing well as are the flowers. A bit overwhelmed with the UFO's I have created  over the winter so made a list and on these rainy days I am working on paring it down to a  manageable size.
I just finished this picture, hand stitched and stretched over a gallery canvas.

I made a few mug rugs to send to some special gals. They will be out in the mail next week. All my own designs .

I am working on a Scandinavian Embroidery quilt, and am adding the sashing blocks as I go. So far it is going well and I love the redwork.  Hope you enjoyed my blog entry and will try and have more completed items soon.  Have a great summer. The Blues

I did a wall hanging for Pamela Allen's class. It was a lot of fun to work with the blues :) And I think the hint of yellow is a nice compliment.

It is has batting and is hand stitched, then I stretched it over a gallery canvas. I like the look.

I am working on a couple more pieces will post when they are finished.  We are finally getting some spring weather, but it still needs to warm up more. No dandelions yet or green grass...come on spring!

Easy Street

I finally finished the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt, it was a labor of love. I am thrilled with the results, it has minky on the back and is now on my bed...a nice burst of color after our very long winter.

Wool Felt

I have been playing around with wool felt. Fun and love to do the hand stitching. This is my own design and I'm liking it :)

I also made a little mini quilt to bring on spring :) The birds seem to be happy lately . A fun little project and I hope to make one for each month of the year, I just need to get out and find a good twig for the hanger. We still have a lot  of snow but the days are getting longer and the temps are a bit warmer.

AboutTown

Decided to finish the Art Gallery piece, it is on a glowing background and I am starting the stitching on it.

The last lesson was a real stretch for me. We were to do a night scene! I decided to carry on with My Town and here is the final result..I will definitely stitch and finish this one. Not too much tweaking and actually was easier to do than I first thought.  I also have a moon in the sky now with the fabric from the gallery...so when it is stitched it should look ok.  I so enjoy Pamela's classes if you ever get a chance to take one of her classes go for it. I always come alive, no matter how down I'm feeling :)

About Town

I am presently taking About Town with Pamela Allan...so good to get the creative juices flowing. This is such a different subject. Here are some of the fabric sketches I have done so far...don't know what our grande finale' will be :)

Lesson #1 I chose an iconic building that we lost last summer. The Alaska Hotel...it was built in the '30's and added on to during the 40's when the Americans arrived for the building of the Alaska Hiway. It was first known as the Dew Drop Inn.  The Mile Zero post was fifty five paces from the hote. Why the Mile 0 post...we are mile 0 of the Alaska Hiway :)

My second sketch was the Art Gallery. One of the old wooden grain elevators was moved to it's present location and is a pretty famous Art Gallery.

For Lesson #2 we were too do a fabric map of our town. I got most of the important items in...it was hard working so small. You can see the Art Gallery and beside it the tourist information building which was the original train station. I even include the traffic circle which locals love to hate.  This was fun.

This week, were were to practice making foliage and people...I think it is way too busy...I got a bit carried away.

Easy Street

I have finished piecing the blocks for Easy Street..it is BIG...had to have my son hang it so I could take a picture. Will add borders and hopefully quilt it next week. This is my second mystery with Bonnie and have to say I love the journey and the ending :)  I have some dark grey that I will put a small border on and then a larger one with a light grey, I think that will finish it off nicely . Hope you are all having a lovely weekend. -27C here, so indoor time and sewing time for me .

Easy Street

I have finished the units up to all of Block 'A'. Just need to get block B put together.  I was a bit worried about my colors but am liking it as I put it together. I think I will be putting larger borders on it to make it fit my queen bed. This is my second mystery with Bonnie...you gotta love them!

I just had to make one Block B to see how it would look :)  I was so looking forward to using green, just didn't know I'd be using so much.  Will be happy when I'm home from Edmonton and can continue putting this all together.

Easy Street

I am busy working on Bonnie Hunter's mystery quilt, Easy Street. Have a few units together, but as you can see many more to go :)  Have exhausted my stash of black and whites for this project.
I am hosting a block swap on a FB group Just Us Quilters...we are swapping a big Star Block from Missouri Quilting. The finished block measures 25" and they are very addicting!  Here are a few I made for my swap partners.
